I sewed in December 2019 (a dress)
Before new year 2020 I decided to dedicate the year 2020 to craft and self-sufficient clothes. I want to make more than buy and therefore in December 2019 I took several sewing lessons and workshops in local sewing shop. It was useful and a good start.
I chose to buy patterns online as well as in the magazines which are sold here in book stores. First I bought several dress, trousers, jackets and blouses patterns online. If you ask me where, I can share with you the link. This is a Russian website of famous Burda moda patterns. Burda became super popular in Russia in 1980s and still women here buy their magazines every month or online PDF patterns and sew their own clothes sharing their results there on the same website, so you can see and read their recommendations.
My mother was an industrial sewer. She worked in sewing factory for 25 years. I visited her job when I was a child, but I never wanted to sew until my 20-s. When I was at school "made in China" clothes flooded our market and it was much cheaper to buy ready-wear than sew yourself. Her job was devalued completely and her factory was closed. She lost her job in the 90s and after that almost never sewed. I feel sorry for her, because it is a good craft and I respect her hard work she did during soviet times. I know she worked 8 hours a day without a break.
The time came when I realized that I really want to learn how to sew.
My first dress, sewn in December 2019. Viscose. Buttons. Polyester all purpose threads. Burda pattern №107, 4/2011. I changed the waist line and made it higher in front and lower at the back.
